Karen Giselle Chee M.D.

Click here to view Dr. Chee's curriculum vitae.

Dr. Chee graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997 and did her medical school and post graduate training at University of California at Davis. Her academic years and her residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology were notable for their reflection of her intelligence, curiosity, focus, mature discipline and enormous energy. She taught, did research, won academic distinctions and is the author or co-author of multiple papers on a variety of neoplasms and their treatment.

We are very proud that Dr. Chee has joined us at California Cancer Care, which she did in 2008. In her practice style, her intellect, focus and discipline have liberated her to be more human and her style is warm, engaged and personal. She moves fast and talks fast while listening well, coming up with solutions and communicating them back, fast but clearly. She enjoys Hematology and tackles the obscure and rare conditions with sleuthlike effectiveness. She loves general cancer care, with a slight focus on gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancer, which was a focus of some of her research. Her treatment planning brings together her intellectual capabilities and her human and empathetic qualities in an unusual combination.

Dr. Chee loves life and grabs onto it with all of the warmth, energy, curiosity and intelligence which have made her clinical work so outstanding. She uses her vacations to stick her head into any interesting corner of the world and is afraid of almost nothing, although a monkey attack in China dampened her ardor for primates. She plays seven musical instruments. She is a complete doctor and a complete human being whose enthusiasm for life rubs off on her patients, just when they need it the most.
